Arrive Savvy in New Orleans

If you’re wondering why people think I’m bald, it’s because I keep my hair cut short on the sides and I always wear a hat.  I have a full head of hair on top.  Now you can arrive savvy in New Orleans knowing that.

Frau Schmitt and I went to the launch party for Arrive Savvy, a digital magazine you can get and look at on the plane on your way to our fair city.  Download it to your favorite portable device.

It’s mostly (almost all) pictures taken by local professional photographer Stephen Young, who I always call Stephen Wright even though that’s not his name.  I’ve looked through the whole thing and its filled with some really stunning views of local businesses and the people who run them.  If you’re looking for La Belle Esplanade, we’re on the second to last pages.  It took me a while to figure that out.

The launch party was held at Park View Guest House, a 22-room establishment across from Tulane University.  It’s beautiful in there.  They offer a different kind of experience than La Belle Esplanade does, but if you are visiting students at Tulane or Loyola Universities, that would be a good place to stay.

The traffic is awful in that part of town around 5:00 in the afternoon.  Awful.  I much prefer our neighborhood.  Nothing is ever awful where we live.

Here’s a view of the lobby at the Park View Guest House:

Arrive savvy in New Orleans
Your humble narrator and Frau Schmitt

That’s only a partial view of how things were set up that night.   You can see they have nice wallpaper, at least.  Now you can arrive savvy in New Orleans knowing that without downloading the magazine.  Download the magazine.

The idea behind this project is that you’ll download it and review it on the airplane so that you can arrive savvy about local things off the usual tourist radar by the time your plane lands.  Don’t use this to decide you want to stay at La Belle Esplanade while you’re airborne.  We don’t take same day reservations, or even the day before.  We prefer people who plan ahead and who want to stay at our authentic boutique establishment because they’ve read about us and they like what they’ve learned.

If you are reading this blog this far, we might be the right place for you.  You’ve got moxie.  We appreciate that and New Orleans, as a city, rewards people with moxie.  Welcome aboard.  Click the availability button on the top of this page and see if we have a suite that suits you.

We just got our 401st review on Trip Advisor yesterday.  That makes four hundred ninety one 5*****star reviews and ten 4****star reviews.  Our last 4****star review was last December.  Frau Schmitt likes to observe that every day in every way we are getting better and better.  She is usually right about these things.

Who is Stephen Wright?

See for yourself.

À votre santé,

Wednesday, November 16, 2017:  We’re going to dinner at Avo tonight.  I chronicled our last meal there a few weeks (two months?) back and it’s time to revisit.
