Get Things Done New Orleans-Style

I am anything but practical.  If I can be called anything, the word that sums me up best is: impractical.  I find inefficiency a virtue.  It’s no wonder I love New Orleans.  I do not travel in a straight line from Point A to Point B.  The the time I reach errand’s end, it is Point Z.  I know how to get things done New Orleans-style.

In New Orleans, nothing happens on time.  In New Orleans, the best laid plans fall apart and then the pieces fall into new places, into something better and more pleasantly surprising.  New Orleans is a city built on improvisation because nothing ever happens as originally imagined.  In New Orleans, being late isn’t just fashionable.  It is a way of life.

To get things done New Orleans-style doesn’t take patience.  It doesn’t require resignation.  Resistance is futile.  Relax.  Commune with the New Orleans State of Mind and become the pearl within this city’s oyster.  Be one with New Orleans and everything will work out alright.

Be yourself in New Orleans and don’t worry about getting anything done.  Nobody else here is worrying.  Nobody is in a hurry.  Everyone is just having a good time, making good memories.  Get things done New Orleans-style and you’ll always have something to do tomorrow.  Tomorrow is always a day away in New Orleans.

Have a great New Orleans today, wherever you may happen to find yourself.  Get things done New Orleans-style wherever you happen to be.  Be a New Orleanian tomorrow.  You’ll bring a smile to the face of everyone you meet.  Every season is the season to be your best New Orleans self you can be.

Friday, June 29, 2018:  I had lunch at the bar at Ralph’s-on-the-Park.  I like it there.  It is close to our inn, the food is good, and the atmosphere is gentile.  It’s the opposite of a Bourbon Street bar:
