I don’t want to spam you with a firehose full of news about La Belle Esplanade. If you are interested, you already know that we update our blog fairly frequently, probably more frequently than any other boutique experience inn of our size. Certainly more than any other inn or hotel of our size in New Orleans. Why? Because we like to share our New Orleans State of Mind. There’s a form at the bottom of this page, though, where you can sign up for our occasional newsletter. Do I recommend it? Only if you’re interested.
It’s wonderful to live in New Orleans. Should you choose to stay with us, you’ll quickly learn why. We live in a real neighborhood that is off the usual tourist radar. All sorts of interesting things happen on Esplanade Avenue and around it. We live in a spellbinding neighborhood.
Back to our newsletter, though, you can subscribe to it in the form at the bottom of this page. We won’t spam you, I promise. It’s only an occasional newsletter. We send it out every two months or so, on an irregular schedule. No hard sell. We know that we offer a limited product, only five suites on a beautiful street in New Orleans. If you aren’t planning on visiting New Orleans, you’re not going to make a reservation at our boutique experience inn. You can’t enjoy our inn if you’re in Pittsburgh.
If you are planning to visit New Orleans, however, we hope you’ll choose to stay with us, but we’re not selling widgets here. We can’t cajole you to take time off work, buy a plane ticket, and spend a couple of days in The City Care Forgot. You have too many responsibilities and cares in your real life to escape to our wonderful city. Frau Schmitt, who is the better half of this operation, and I are lucky to live where we do. We get to enjoy New Orleans all year long, at our whimsy. We thank our lucky stars. You have other things to do. We understand. When you’re ready, though, you know where to find us.
Frau Schmitt is the better half of this operation. I’m the comic relief. We just do what we do, noodling along like a long dixieland jazz solo, doing what we do for our own pleasure as well as the enjoyment of the people who do choose to stay with us.
What’s our latest newsletter about?
We don’t repeat what you’ll find in our blog. Many of our former and future guests read our blog regularly. We don’t want to bore them with something they’ve read before. Instead, we tend to provide detailed restaurant reviews and news of things that happen at our inn and in our neighborhood that don’t merit a full blown blog post. WHAT?!? I know I tend to ramble on this blog, but the newsletter is more of an insider’s view into the New Orleans State of Mind. It’s secret intelligence. Subscribe and you’ll see.
Unlike a seven-night reservation at New Orleans’ #1 rated small inn, our newsletter will cost you nothing. Unsubscribe any time you like. There’s no penalty and our feelings won’t be hurt. How’s that for a hard sell?
What’s New Orleans all about?
Ours is an ineffable city. I know what New Orleans is about, but I’ve lived here for 7 years (and counting). There are more layers to New Orleans than there are in an onion, or in the atmosphere of Jupiter.
Nobody ever says their visit to New Orleans is too long. It is always too short. The longer you stay, the more you’ll realize how much you are missing. Ours is a city with a richly textured and densely woven culture. There is more than meets the eye. New Orleans has a big heart. Maybe our occasional newsletter will shed some light on the ever-vibrant and always vibrating pulse that wends its tracks through our parti-colored neighborhood. Maybe not. You can always count on some purple prose. Like our blog, our newsletters are “sometimes informative and usually entertaining.” Subscribe at your own risk.
We hope you’ll subscribe to our newsletter. If not, no worries. It’ll be your loss if you don’t. You can follow us on Facebook if you are so inclined, too. Again, nobody’s holding a gun to your head. This is New Orleans, a peaceable and pleasant city where life goes on at its own pleasant pace with nary a ripple, a ruffle, or a riffle on the placid surface of any given day.
You have two friends in New Orleans.
À votre santé,
La Belle Esplanade
…where every morning begins with a curated breakfast salon and every couple of months we send out an occasional improvised newsletter.
Wednesday, May 31, 2017: I’m putting the finishing touches on our latest email newsletter. Sign up today to get it when I finally get around to sending it. Be a New Orleanian wherever you are.
