The Best Written Blog in New Orleans

I read 18 New Orleans blogs regularly.  I also read the local newspapers.  I like them all, but the only one I really admire is this blog.  You’re in the right place if you want to get into The New Orleans State of Mind.  This blog isn’t only the best written, in my humble opinion, it has the most relevant information for both people visiting our fair city and those who live here.  YMMV, as people like to abbreviate.  If you’re like me and you don’t spend a lot of time in chat rooms or instant messaging, Your Mileage May Vary.  I’m biased, of course, but for my time spent escaping to into New Orleans-themed reveries, this is the best written blog in New Orleans.

The Best Written Blog in New Orleans
A toast to everyone who could use a little more New Orleans in their lives!

A visitor to New Orleans hears a lot of hoopla before he or she arrives.  Tell people that you’re coming to New Orleans and you will get a grocery list of recommendations so that you can relive your friends’ vacations, most of which centered around the French Quarter.  We don’t discourage you from avoiding tourist trap New Orleans, but we do encourage you to get out and about outside the French Quarter to explore and revel in the real New Orleans.  This well-written blog cuts through the hype and gets to the heart of The New Orleans State of Mind.

My usual advice to people coming to New Orleans for the first time is to not overplan.  I recommend reading a book(!) about the city, something of general interest.  I like to recommend “Letters From New Orleans,” by Rob Walker.  It’s a little out of date but that won’t matter.  It will get you in the right frame of mind for your visit.

When you are in New Orleans, the best advice is to just enjoy where you find yourself.  That is what your humble narrator does.  Insignificant miracles will cross your path when you aren’t looking for them in New Orleans.  In the right frame of mind, they’ll take on a timeless and refreshing relevance.  Keep an open eye and open heart, and you’ll be open to smiling over the course of any New Orleans day.  New Orleans is magical.

Wednesday, August 8, 2018: I spent yesterday and today at a Facebook conference to learn more about how to spread The New Orleans State of Mind on FB and on Instagram.  Stay tuned.  La Belle Esplanade will have more to share in more ways with its family of friends in the near future.  Until then….À votre santé.
