In a New Orleans state of mind, even angels dream of spending a few nights on Esplanade Avenue in the bright orange house with blue shutters. Who can blame them? If there is anywhere on earth that is close to Heaven, it is New Orleans. The best part of New Orleans can be found in the neighborhoods that branch off Esplanade Avenue. The best small hotel in this wonderful city we call home is La Belle Esplanade. Read the reviews. ANGELS DREAM OF NEW ORLEANS.
It’s not the ever-present cocktails or the absinthe on tap that makes New Orleans magical. It is the people who choose to call this remarkable city home. I know. I live here. These people are my neighbors. They are the best people I’ve ever had the opportunity to call my neighbors. When we first opened La Belle Esplanade as a small artisanal hotel (we only have five suites) people told us that we are located too far from the French Quarter—-it’ll never work. Never say never. It’s working.
Our inn is located close to the French Quarter and all the tourist action, but it is in a real, authentic New Orleans neighborhood. There are five small family-run museums within a half mile of our address where you can learn all about New Orleans culture. Last time I counted, there are 60 restaurants, many of them nationally famous, located a picturesque stroll from our front door. We live on a beautiful street. New Orleans is a city full of delightful details. You’ll see. Forget all your cares and get yourself into a New Orleans state of mind.

New Orleans culture is densely woven and richly textured. It is a celebratory parti-colored tapestry of song and dance and good meals and good memories. The best memories are made on Esplanade Avenue. I witness their creation every day. Savor New Orleans like you live here, like you belong here. You do belong here. Make La Belle Esplanade the home base for your grand New Orleans adventures. Fortune favors the bold. Use your better intuition. You do belong here. No one ever says their visit is too short. Stay for as long as you can manage with your regular job. Your real profession is expanding your horizons and making the most of the life you’ve been given. New Orleans is a world of its own. There are angels on every street corner. Some of them are guardians, some of them are here to inspire your better instincts. Frau Schmitt, who is the better half of this operation, always tells me that we should be envious of the people who choose to stay at La Belle Esplanade. She is right, of course. We have already experienced New Orleans for the first time. You’ll never forget your first visit to Esplanade Avenue. Love is in the air.
