When I think about New Orleans, I think of the opening of the 1984 movie Cannonball Run II. Would you like to know why? Mardi Gras! Mardi Gras! I say Mardi Gras the same way: Mardi Gras. Mardi GRAS! A lot of people do, they say it in a whisper, too. Mardi Gras Day is the most magical day of the year. The whole New Orleans calendar revolves around it. We observe other holidays in New Orelans, you know the kind, New Year’s Eve, Columbus Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving. Nothing holds a candle to Mardi Gras Day. It’s the day so nice that they had to extend the holiday to a whole season.
